My Thoughts:

The Seahawks lost in free agency this year but that is likely to be expected when a stocked roster happens in this era. They didn't lose any of their top guys though which helps but both Brandon Mebane and Bruce Irvin are going to be losses for the defense. The Seahawks lost three offensive linemen in free agency but the OL play was so terrible last year that it is almost a positive by subtraction here. Russell Okung could be missed but too often his play was underwhelming. The Seahawks added a pair of veteran linemen in free agency and J'Marcus Webb is likely to start at right tackle. He is an experience, big linemen but of only average ability. Bradley Sowell will likely only provide depth for the team. Chris Clemons comes back to the Seahawks, a team he played with from 2010 to 2013 when he had 38 sacks. At 34 years of age though, Clemons has slowed down and had just 13 tackles and 3 sacks in sixteen games last year. Perhaps returning to Seattle will help him find the fountain of youth but it is unlikely.

The Seahawks had some good picks and what I view as reaches in this draft but with their track record of success you almost have to give them the benefit of the doubt. I think they really reached on their first pick offensive tackle Germain Ifedi from Texas AM. I had a late 3rd round grade on him and think the Hawks really reached out of desperation here. He has great size and athleticism but he just didn't play all that well in college and will struggle against elite defensive ends. Jarran Reed will certainly join the fray as a defensive tackle and he is an elite run stopper. The Seahawks drafted a trio of running backs and all could factor with playing time this season. C.J. Prosise is a former receiver who excels in the passing game. He almost certainly will slot into a 3rd Down specialist role. Alex Collins is a traditional back with size, power and vision. He won't rip off many long runs but he can move the chains. Zac Brooks had minimal college stats but looked the part in pre draft workouts. An interesting prospect is DT Quinton Jefferson who was highly sought after out of high school and a knee injury in 2014 hurt his prospects. The kid can play if healthy and given a chance. Late 3rd round pick Rees Odhiambo out of Boise State fits the Seahawks scheme nicely and could start at guard.

I didn't love the Seahawks free agency pickups and their losses will be felt. There are some interesting draft picks and given the Hawks run of success through the draft over the past several years it is tough to discount the picks but I did not love the flow of their draft this year. They will get some help from this draft class but some questionable picks such as Germain Ifedi cannot be ignored. Still the Seahawks have Russell Wilson, some skill around him on offense and that tough, tenacious defense that will come back as good as ever in 2016.
